Names matter!

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

Thoughts are powerful and carry energy. Animals are very aware of our attitude towards them. For instance, if we think they are dumb, aggressive, adventurous etc. this is the sort of behavior it will encourage. If you think flies are an annoyance, then they will be annoying.

Likewise, names are very important. Seemingly harmless jokes can have a very devastating effect on the animals. E.g. nicknaming an animal Loser, Fatty, Dummy etc. will harm the animal’s self esteem and will cause them to live up to the nick name.

Names like Devil, Killer, Trouble, Gun can influence the animal’s personality and how people interact with them. Names carry energy, and that energy is transmitted every time you call the animal. People who are introduced to the animal will immediately reflect the energy they associate with the name back to the animal.

Can you imagine yourself or your children having to live with a name like that and being exposed to that energy day in day out? It’s a harrowing thought and I don’t wish it on any animal.

For similar reasons, for rescue animals it is often a good idea to change the animal’s name, especially if the animal is still coping with trauma or grief from that previous phase of her life. It can be a key for a better life.
